It is truly an honor to be invited to work with the Scattered Abroad Network.  I have known Michael, Caleb, and many other members of the staff for a number of years.  I have a great appreciation for the work that the network has done thus far and I hope to be a valuable asset to the team.  With my first three blog posts as a member of the network, I thought it crucial to examine three of the most frequently asked questions in our world today: those being, “Why am I here,” “What am I doing,” and “Where am I going?”  These three questions (and really any question that we may have) is answered by God’s Word.

The answer to “Why am I here” is really quite simple.  All creation exists because of the creation of God (Genesis 1).  The very first chapter of God’s Divine Word details how everything got to Earth.  You and I are here because God created man from the dust of the ground (Gen. 2:7), created woman from man’s rib (Gen. 2:21-22), and set in motion the pattern of procreation (Gen. 1:28).  Mankind exists to fulfill the will of God (Ecc. 12:13), but we will dive further into that in tomorrow’s blog.

We continue to live on the Earth because God has set Earth’s systems in place to work together as they do (Genesis 1).  All the ecosystems and ecology work together, in essence, because God said so.  In Genesis 7, we see just how much the Earth relies on God through the global flood.  God told the Earth to do it, so it did it.  There will come a time when the systems of the Earth are destroyed, but we will discuss more about that two days from now.

I was not a great student in science classes growing up, but I remember enough about these classes to know that all of our body’s systems work together.   Your respiratory system and circulatory system work together, your nervous system and your muscular system work together, and so on.  How did those systems know how to work together?  The answer is simple, the All-Wise, All-Knowing, All-Powerful Creator told them to.  Why are we here? We were created by God.  What are we doing and where are we going?  Come back over the next two days to find out.
