Two-year Program
Welcome home
You may have just stumbled on the best two years of your life
Our core program, consisting of two years, represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dedicate your time to comprehensive growth in Christ. Your two years on campus will revolutionize your Bible study, challenge and support your personal growth, and build friendships that last a lifetime. And thanks to generous supporters, enrollment and tuition are totally free.
And that's just the start
Those two years open up a lifetime of connections, learning, and growth. From our continuing education programs to our annual lectureship and vibrant alumni community, our goal is to continue aiding you in ministry for years to come.
Who should attend MSOP?
One who wants to preach the Gospel (2 Timothy 4:2) and those men who desire to further their Biblical learning to benefit their local congregation’s Bible Classes and pulpits.
How long does it take to graduate?
The two-year program is completed in that span of time, and there is a third year of study available for preaching graduates (or those possessing the academic equivalent of such). More information can be found here.
What are the age limits?
We allow students aged 18-80. Yes, you read that right!
What will I study?
The entire Bible and courses that prepare the preacher for his work. Our faculty has over 400 years of combined experience in preaching, teaching, and local work. Check out our catalog for more info.
Will my studies earn me a degree?
Graduates possess a degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, with courses solely focused on the preacher’s work. Numerous Universities (such as Freed-Hardeman, Amridge, Faulkner, Heritage Christian, and more) accept a large number of MSOP credit hours and make it easy for graduates to continue their education if they desire.
Will I have an opportunity to preach?
Yes! Our students have the ability to stay at Forest Hill and enjoy the worship there or hone their preaching at a number of places they can both intern or simply visit and preach.
Will I be able to find a place to preach when I graduate?
While we cannot guarantee a place for all of our graduates, it is rare for a graduate not to have a job upon graduation (or shortly thereafter).
Where will I live?
On campus. MSOP has four residence halls [of eight, three-bedroom, and two (full) bathroom units]. Students only pay for utilities and maintenance (which serves as their monthly rent; a FRACTION of the cost of any apartment in the area!)
Are there classes for wives?
Yes! Wives’ classes meet on Monday nights and include classes on the practical aspects of teaching, on being a preacher’s wife, and on general biblical instruction [wives receive diplomas also].
How is MSOP Supported?
MSOP is a work of the Forest Hill church of Christ, under her eldership. Forest Hill contributes more than $500,000 per year. Other churches and brethren also contribute. MSOP neither receives government financing nor charges tuition and fees.
Is financial help available?
Yes! Congregations and individuals generally provide living expenses for faithful men who desire to train to preach.
How much support do I need?
Needs vary depending on marital status, family size, etc. Germantown has a moderate cost of living.
How do I become a student at MSOP?
Read carefully the information on this site, then complete an application, providing all requested information. After your application and references are reviewed, we will contact you to let you know your status.
How much are tuition and fees?
Zero–the education is free. Your only financial concern will be for your physical needs (food, vehicle, insurance, etc.) and housing utilities and maintenance.
How do I raise support?
1. Make a budget and share it with potential supporters. 2. Make a list of potential supporters and be persistent in following up with them. 3. Sit down face to face with elderships and congregations; do not approach them only through mail, and do not be afraid, or ashamed, to ask for what you need. 4. Make a promise to yourself and to God to fulfil your desire to preach. God will be with you; pray for His help, and He will provide. 5. Keep us informed and involved—we may be able to supply you with contacts, to direct support your way (if it is available), to write or call on your behalf, and to encourage you. 6. Remember that with God’s help you can be a student at MSOP and become a preacher of the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ
Is MSOP approved for Veteran’s assistance?
MSOP has been approved for benefits for veterans, war orphans, and other eligible persons. Apply directly to the Veterans Administration in your home state and send the certificate of Eligibility to the school or present it upon registration.
